Seven years of experience has given Marlena a head start with her freelance career. Her continued years at Mac cosmetics allows her to do the average of 20 faces a day, from every shape, size and color of facial attributes. More importantly, its Marlenas personality that sets her apart from anyone else.
She is customer service driven. She is passionate that everyone in her chair walks away enthralled with her work. She always asks for feedback, and her suggestions are honest and sincere. Not only does she execute a flawless makeup she makes sure its what you were looking for as well.
She is an incredible asset to film crews and photo shoot teams. Shes eager and determined to meet deadlines, and does what it takes to make everyones creative vision come to life.
Marlena has a great deal of personal experience with photography and performance makeup. Her time spent playing bass for Torontos republic of safety gave her the knowledge of how colors resonate on stage and film.
On a daily basis, Marlena builds her portfolio; she works with well known models, but prides herself in mostly choosing Toronto women in and around the art community.
Half the photos on her sight, were not only her design and vision, but were also photographed by her.
Her routine is as follows:
-executes a vision and style of the photo shoot
-designs a makeup look
-creates a set in and around the location
-styles the models in accessories and clothing
-styles the models hair
-positions them, the lighting, and even photographs them herself too.
Marlena also loves working with other Toronto photographers. She has a close working relationship with Nikki mills. Nikkis eye for beauty makes her a number one choice for weddings and portraiture in the Toronto area. Nikki goes above and beyond, even going as far as sawing some cherry blossoms to add them to a shoot. (Those photos are located on this site) She has a distinct style that can sway to any personality or subject.
Mitch Orisatti has a fantastic eye for small details. He has a knack for getting the perfect position with his camera, even in the tightest squeezes. Mitch specializes in capturing events as they happen, and he turns even the most mundane moments in to memorable pieces of art.
Dont let Marlenas artistic personality fool you. She has managed to gain the most clientele with mature women, and women that are more reserved with their makeup style. She believes that less is more and she has tact with making sure you look naturally beautiful.
